The Light That Calls Us
Epiphany Worship Service
The worship service outline below has been created by The Fellowship of Worship Artists for use by our members. Portions of the service outline that were created by other individuals are cited throughout. While citation should be added for the individuals listed, the rest of the service is for use by permission. No citation is necessary. In the sermon prompts, you will find ideas for how to expand this from one service to a sermon series, if you so choose.
Throughout the service outline you will also find recommendations for music (traditional and contemporary) as well as dance choreography for one of the hymns.
In the slider below, you will find worship slides, graphics, video backgrounds, and social media resources that can be used to accompany this service.
If you have any questions, please contact Erica Rushing at erica.rushing@thefellowshipowa.org.
Service Summary
The Epiphany story often summons visions of camels crossing the desert, bringing three Magi to the feet of an infant Jesus. While we know it was likely that Jesus was more of a toddler than a newborn when the Magi arrived, and while the Bible never actually tells us how many wise men followed the star, the Epiphany story shed light on the lives of three very different kinds of kings:
-
a jealous ruler intent on keeping power, even if it means hurting and misleading others
-
seekers of wisdom, followers of God’s signs, worshipers of the King of kings
-
A servant. Our Savior. The Light of the World.
This service outline explores what it means to remain attentive to how God is working in the world, and how we will answer God's call to reflect the light of Jesus into the world around us.
